Clark's Commandos?
My wife (http://kimhynes.smartcampaigns.com) was one of the first people that Governor Dean endorsed, part of the Dean Dozen. This has gotten her some great press and increased donations.
There has been a discussion over on DailyKos (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/5/14/71847/9442) about why Gov. Dean chose the people he did. I can’t speak for the Governor, but it seems to fit with the goal he has often spoken about concerning getting more people involved in the political process.
My wife has never run for office before, and it is a great learning experience for us, as well as putting some pressure on a Republican that has never faced an opponent. Kim’s races has gotten people talking about issues and perhaps shifting the dialog in a way that wouldn’t have happened if Kim wasn’t running. There was an interesting subsequent discussion on about this on DailyKos (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/5/18/1346/01776)
Gov. Dean has said he will support additional candidates as he goes forward, and I look forward to this.
One of the things that Dean supporters had criticized other candidates for doing during the primaries was stealing Gov. Dean’s ideas and running with them. This is one idea that I would love to see some of the other candidates do. General Clark has set up WesPac. Is WesPac going to come up with Clark’s Commandos as an answer to the Dean Dozen? I sure hope so. Will Kucinich do something similar? I sure hope so. I hope all the candidates will do their part to support new candidates.
