Brief introduction

Jon L. was kind enough to invite me to post here at Greater Democracy, and I know the style here is long thoughtful essays but i figured I owed the readers a head's-up. My name is Christian Crumlish and I'll be blogging the Democratic National Convention from the hall as one of the lucky press-credentialed webloggers. (This will provide me with my first chance to meet Aldon Hynes face to face - we met in the DeanSpace project.)

My convention blogging will be scattered over a few different weblogs, so I will try to focus anything here on the mission of this site, exploring the spread of more open forms of democracy, especially given the technological flux. I have a book coming out soon that deals with this as well as a number of related topics that have less to do with politics and governance and more to do with social media and person-to-person relationships. Thus I may also post an occasional roundup pointing to any offsite bloggings that I think readers here may find interesting.
