Thursday morning plans
Last night was the Blogger’s Bash. It was a great event, but I didn’t get home until 3 AM. Today, the Progressive Democrats of America will host the Progressive Democratic Convention from 10 to 4 at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, 1350 Tremont Street, Boston (T-Stop: Roxbury Crossing, Orange Line).
Speakers include Tom Hayden, Bill Moyer, Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), Gov. Howard Dean, and Rep. Dennis Kucinich. I’ve met several of the people organizing it online, and there are some really sharp people behind this. All of that said, I’ve heard Gov. Dean speak many times this week. I would love to hear some of the others more often, but I am hungry, exhausted and need to get some writing done.
I have picked up my credentials for the day and will take a bit of time to write at the hotel. Even here, it is a bit chaotic, but not as bad as things were last night at the convention, or how bad I expect them to be tomorrow. After I write a little, head out to eat, then head over to the convention center early. I’ll probably post a bunch of entries fairly quickly from there.
Most importantly, I need to call my middle daughter to wish her a happy birthday.

You should have seen Howard Dean and Dennis Kucinich joining hands - the 1000 or so people there couldn't keep their seats. It was a great convention outside "The Convention" and there are a very few pictures up at http://pdamerica.org.
All of the speakers were wonderful.
Also of note:
1. Before speaking at the Progressive Democratic Convention, Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) the "Dean of the Congressional Black Caucus" actually called Arianna Huffington and urged her to support this new organization. He later told the crowd, "This is the most exciting convention I've ever been to in my life!" He's quoted thusly in the In These Times article at http://www.inthesetimes.com/site/main/article/en_masse_and_on_message/
2. After speaking at that event, Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, touted PDA at her Cambridge fundraiser.
3. Actor Jaime Cromwell kicked off his fundraising pitch for PDA - by pitching in $1,000!
4. PDA also sponsored the Tuesday Peace Conference featuring Tom Hayden and Green, Medea Benjamin, which was covered by the New York Times http://www.nytimes.com/2004/07/28/politics/campaign/28left.html?8bl
5. William Rivers Pitt urged progressives to fund PDA in the section of his article on the Democratic National Convention entitled Killing the Buddha in Truth Out at http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/080304A.shtml
