They can NEVER be wrong
[A personal rant.]
To understand the Radical Right, you have to understand that they live in a bubble inflated by
tautologies [statements not subject to disproof]. If even one of these is discovered to be wrong, then the others are at risk and there can no longer be "certainty" that they are the chosen ones and their bubble is safe.
The Radical Right can not accept the fact that their knowledge is just as imperfect as the rest ours. They can not accept that they make mistakes all the time. Their fear of being wrong, and thus that their tautological world view will collapse, manifests itself as extreme hubris and arrogance -- as utter certainty. They can not afford to doubt. In fact, they are terrified of doubt, complexity, contradiction, ambiguity and uncertainty, ie the modern world in all of its multi-dimensional guises.
This is why they blindly and passionately fight for that poor woman in Florida who only has a brain stem left. At the same time, they want to cut $15 Billion from the Medicaid program. In the end, it these hypocrisies that will tear them apart. Of course the "leadership" of the Far Right [
Fascists] unscrupulously manipulates this to cover up their own law breaking as well as to make political hay while they still can.
As certain as there are little green apples, the Bush Bubble will burst, just like the Tuplip Mania and the Dot Com Extravaganza. When the Bush Bubble does burst, it will destroy a huge amount of wealth and many people. We will be some time recovering. [There are some indicators in recent polling data that the bubble is bursting even now.]
Personally, I grew up with a parent who could never be wrong and could never lose. So I know about this first hand. It was only when I discovered tautologies in a college philosophy class that I gained some insight into the nature of the situation.
